BLOG: In Search of the Philippine Comics Industry (July 2022)

Over the summer, I had to spend a few weeks in the country of my birth, the Philippines. While there, I searched for comics in every bookstore I came across to no avail. I was, however able to connect with some industry pros like Dennis Crisostomo and Tin Tin Pantoja. Then during the last week, I went to the Komiket office of Paolo Herras and viola, his space was chock full of local comics and graphic novels! In conclusion, I was happy to discover that the Philippines comics industry is alive and well thanks to folks like Paolo, Dennis and Tin Tin. I look forward to more from these and many more talented writers and artists.
